For the past five years, Jen Kunlire has been involved in the Slam & Spoken Word Community across Canada – with coast to coast performances from Halifax to Victoria and major cities in between. Past festivals include: two-time member of the Calgary Slam Team competing in the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word & SLAM – Calgary/08 & Victoria/09, a three-time feature in the Calgary International Spoken Word Festival, High Performance Rodeo's 10 Minute Play Festival (ETC), and OFF-Fil festival in Montréal. Jen was also the winner of the 2009 CBC Poetry Face-OFF in Calgary. She has served on the Board of Directors for Writer's Guild of Alberta as the Youth Representative and the Calgary Rep for Spoken Word Canada (SpoCan). Jen also attended the Spoken Word Residency at the Banff Centre and is a current member of the Ink Spot Collective – organizers of the monthly poetry slams in Calgary.
